Samsara of Blossom

* Programme subject to change

A multisensory journey that blends ancient philosophy with modern dance and 3D visuals.

This performance captures the profound essence of the Korean philosophy of the Joseon Dynasty and the aesthetics of artificial flowers, centred on the theme of reincarnation. The plum blossom, a symbol of maternal love, represents a powerful life force. For centuries, this flower was cherished in the Joseon royal court, where artisans crafted delicate “Yun-hwae-mae” —plum blossoms made from beeswax.

Inspired by the story of Tam-Mae-Do, which tells of the philosopher Kim Si-seup’s quest for the first plum blossom to bloom in winter, Samsara of Blossom fuses Korean philosophy with the refined traditions of the Joseon royal court. By combining these historical elements with modern dance and 3D visuals, the show transforms the intangible into the tangible, offering audiences a unique multisensory experience. Images come alive as the sound of wood and metal clashing intertwines with movement, creating a captivating feast for the senses.
