This performance shows us the extent to which traditional Korean dance, considered the root of the arts in this Asian country, has evolved. The harmony between tradition and modernity is expressed visually, through the use of traditional objects such as socks, wind chimes and wooden percussion, elements that are reinterpreted with contemporary music and movements.

The evolutionary process of Korean dance can be applied to the shape of nature and the growth of humans, as if from a single seed to a tree. This traditional dance tells us about the long journey of compacting and watering the soil planted with seeds into a giant tree. In this work, the audience will be a companion of the adventure as they vividly witness the journey of the Korean dance.

This company was founded by Seo Yeon-soo when she was trying to choreograph for the first time and thinking about women and human beings. The feminine here does not refer to biological sex, but to 'feminine' things as a force against the modern, rational and mainly Western-centered male world. In recent years, the group has been seeking to innovate in Korean dance by using various materials that audiences can sympathize and connect with.

“Seo Yeon-soo is always bold. Her boldness and passion for dance without hesitation is unique among young people. Having seen her work over the years, I can't help but admit that she has put her heart and soul into her dances and on stage, and not a single work has been wasted. However, he has not stagnated, but has grown. Above all, this time, Straight and Curve seems to reveal another leap forward, as if to emphasize the process.”

Dance Forum, Yoon Dae-sung.

“The unified choreographic execution, large-scale devices and lighting, and intensely effective music recall the performance of a municipal organization, and Seo Yeon-soo's audacity is such that she staged her own work at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, a place not to be taken for granted, even by masters.”

Dance Magazine, Shim Jung-min.

"Femininity is maximized based on tradition. You can see the choreographer's intention to differentiate this work from others by properly arranging elements of East and West in terms of music and choreography."

Cho Eunkyung.
