Dúo Resonance

Arpa clásica y marimba

* Programme subject to change

Dúo Resonance emerged in Boca del Río, Veracruz. The attractive combination and sonic depth of both instruments is what led Betuel Ramírez and Esteban Nevárez to unite their talents and virtues.

Betuel Ramírez, from Xalapa, Veracruz, has made her mark as a soloist and orchestral musician in countries such as China, Italy, the Netherlands, Brazil, and Chile, leaving her impression in each of them. She is considered a renowned Mexican harpist.

Esteban Nevárez, marimba player and orchestral musician, has distinguished himself through his musical skills, participating in international competitions with notable representation. He is frequently invited to collaborate with the country’s most important orchestras, as well as festivals and chamber music concerts.

Currently, they are the only duo with this unique combination in Mexico.

This programme was specially designed for the 53rd Festival Internacional Cervantino, where Veracruz is the guest state of honour. The selection of works takes us to the streets of all those promenades in Veracruz where Agustín Lara left his soul and charm with all the young girls and divine women, just as reflected in the titles of his songs.

We will remember the great Don Mario by reviving one of his most moving works, Ternura. As Armengol said: “I only intend to nest in sensitive souls.” Arturo Márquez, Astor Piazzolla, and Zequinha de Abreu complement this collection of Latin American music for the rest of the programme.

Our sincere thanks to composer Daniel Loyola and Maestro Esteban Nevárez, who collaborated on these arrangements for this festival.

Press quotes

“This recital celebrates the musical richness of Latin America through two emblematic instruments: the harp and the marimba. With a carefully selected repertoire, we will perform sounds, rhythms, and colours that have shaped the identity of our music, with special dedication to the state of Veracruz, a land where tradition and musical innovation converge in a unique way.”

“The Mexican Betuel Ramírez, who will soon join the Xi’ An Symphony Orchestra, expressed at the end of the concert that she has a strong connection with Urtex: 'I have the great pleasure of being part of this musical family. I am very grateful to have been invited to participate in this 4th festival, as it was a huge responsibility, especially since musicians from all over the country and abroad with a very renowned name come together'.”
