Dúplum/DAM

* Programme subject to change

As part of its twentieth anniversary, the ensemble Dúplum celebrates its artistic journey with an ambitious project in collaboration with the composers' collective DAM. This partnership brings to life a programme featuring seven world premieres, each specially dedicated to Dúplum, exploring new sonic possibilities between the clarinet and percussion. DAM, made up of seven renowned Mexican composers who trained in Europe in the 1990s, is known for its focus on contemporary, experimental, and avant-garde music.

Despite their diverse aesthetics, they are united by a shared vision: to expand musical languages through artistic collaboration. This meeting between performers and creators results in a fertile space for innovation, where varied styles converge under a single purpose: to renew the current musical landscape.

Press quotes

“From the abstract to industrial imagery, from fear and despair to fiction and sarcasm, as well as the irreverence of Mexican identity, these are the elements explored by the composers and video artists in their creations. 609386/friction.mov is the title of the work by musician Alejandro Castaños and filmmaker Martjin van Boven. In it, computer-generated abstract images merge with sonic textures in a process of expansion and contraction. Andrés Solís, for his part, is the author of Planeta Kennel, a piece that caricatures and ridicules contemporary societies.”

Ángel Vargas. La Jornada

“As part of its 20th anniversary, the ensemble Dúplum reunites with the composers’ group DAM to celebrate its artistic journey. This collaboration results in a musical experience in which each member of DAM dedicates a new composition to Dúplum, forming a programme of seven world premieres."
