YES! Trio

YES! Trio

* Programme subject to change

Aaron Goldberg (piano), Omer Avital (bass), and Alí Jackson (drums) formed this ensemble in New York in the early 1990s, when the three musicians were in their twenties and united by a shared passion for jazz and swing. At the time, they came together to fully explore the spirit of the genre, immersing themselves in its essence and honing their musical language.

Each of them has had a successful individual career: Jackson was a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra under the direction of Wynton Marsalis for over a decade; Avital has led projects that fuse his Jewish, Yemeni, and Moroccan roots; while Goldberg has stood out both as a soloist and accompanist, collaborating with artists such as Joshua Redman.

With more than twenty-five years of friendship and collaboration, these three musicians revitalise the jazz tradition through a trio that celebrates the spirit of swing and the joy of shared music.

Press quotes

“‘Why do we love Yes! Trio so much?’ asks rhetorically the press release for their third and most recent album, Spring Sings. One of the first reasons is that this group embodies everything that excites us about the history of jazz, not by trying to reproduce it, but by making it come alive.”

Festival Jazz Barcelona

“Here is a trio inhabited by swing, operating at a remarkably high level thanks to their unity, their collective sound, their delicacy, and the intelligence of the music played with as much authority as heart.”

Jazz'in. Disque du mois

“With YES! Trio, jazz is far from having said its last word.”
