Lorelle Meets the Obsolete
Baja California
Amid hypnotic repetition, noise, and enveloping darkness, Lorelle Meets the Obsolete transforms every concert into an experience that feels like a trance set to music, blending genres ranging from psychedelia to post-punk—genres that dissolve into a dense atmosphere, sustained by bass, synthesizers, and spectral vocals that emerge like distant echoes until they completely envelop the audience.
The intensity of their music is no accident. Much of their work, especially the album De Facto, was born amid a period of intense political tension in Mexico, marked by elections that laid bare deep social fractures. Without turning that backdrop into direct commentary, the duo channels it into abstract soundscapes, charged with longing and strangeness. Songs like Casi no estar open up journeys into the subconscious, while Líneas en hojas transforms uncertainty into an emotional drift suspended between melancholy and trance.
