Los espíritus de la selva

Guanajuato

Los espíritus de la selva is an artistic work for solo guitar that explores the convergence between the natural soundscape and the creatures—fantastic or real—that inhabit it. Through a program that integrates diverse contemporary aesthetics and languages, the concert invokes the essence of nature, as the pieces emerge and fade like whispers in the undergrowth, offering a testament to environments as diverse as the grandeur of the Amazon, the deep jungles of Australia, the deities of Javanese mythology, or the vibrant mysticism of the Veracruz tropics.

With a repertoire that spans the works of Heitor Villa-Lobos and Ernesto García de León—who created the piece De la infancia selvática – Partita No. 3 Op. 83 especially for this projectthe program is complemented by the sonic visions of Phillip Houghton and Stefan Soewandi. Vladimir Ibarra seeks to reestablish the deep, primal connection between human beings and the earth, exploring everything from minimalism to the evocation of ancestral rhythms. By artistically capturing jungle sounds, climatic phenomena, and legendary figures such as chaneques and nahuales, the project invites the audience to listen mindfully, celebrating music as a gateway to intangible joys and the preservation of our natural heritage.
