The University of Guanajuato, worthy and autonomous, is the highest public institution of secondary and higher education in the State of Guanajuato. 

It was established in 1732 under the name of Hospicio de la Santísima Trinidad and in 1827, academic faculties such as law, painting, sculpture and architecture were incorporated. It had its peak around 1867 when it developed important research projects and implemented technical programs. In 1945, it received the name by which it is currently known and by 1994 it became an autonomous institution.
