Switzerland - Mexico

For this album, Julian Sartorius starts from a radical premise: a pattern of 23 individual beats, played continuously, into which the musician intervenes in real time by introducing various instruments and objects that transform the material into new landscapes. Conceived as an infinite loop, without hierarchies or breaks, the piece RLLRLRLLRRLRLRLRLLRLRLR blurs the boundary between beginning and end. The result is an uninterrupted rhythmic flow where the ensemble’s subtle shifts ensure that each slight variation alters the listener’s perception while offering a wide range of moods and intensities. 

Whether performed by a soloist or an ensemble of up to 40 percussionists, through hypnotic precision, the work draws us into a state of absolute attention: a vibrant ecosystem where repetition is an odyssey of constant change.
