Ludwig Carrasco

He began his work as main director and artistic director of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México in January 2023. Previously, he held the same position in charge of the Orquesta de Cámara de Bellas Artes, the Orquesta Filarmónica de Querétaro and the Sinfonietta Prometeo from United States. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself for his interpretations of the repertoire’s fundamental works, as well as for his commitment to diversity and inclusion in musical programming. In his career as a director and violinist, he has given concerts in 31 countries in the Americas, Asia and Europe, leading outstanding ensembles.

He has performed on important stages around the world. He equally cultivates the symphonic and scenic repertoire (opera and ballet), as well as multidisciplinary projects, besides being an active promoter of contemporary music, conducting the world premiere of more than 120 works and performing nearly 80 national premieres.

Ludwig Carrasco was born in Morelia (Mexico), he began his musical studies in his native country at the age of 5, expanding his training in Germany, Austria, Spain, United States, France, Italy and Switzerland. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in music, specializing in violin and conducting, as well as postgraduate degrees in musicology and cultural management. He received his doctorate in orchestral direction from Northwestern University under the guidance of Victor Yampolsky.
