
Manuel García
He is a singer-songwriter and guitarist originally from Arica, Chile. His extensive career spans several musical genres such as singer-songwriter, trova, roots music, Latin folk-rock, traditional songs, new folklore and electronic pop-rock. He won the National Music Award in 2008 and the Pulsar Award for best singer-songwriter in 2022, both in Chile. In 2020 he received Argentina's Gardel Award for Best Conceptual Album for Abrazo de Hermanos, along with Pedro Aznar, becoming the only Chilean to won such award. In 2023 he received the commemorative medal for the 50th anniversary of the Nueva Trova, awarded by the Cuban Institute of Music. In 2024 he participated in the soundtrack of the documentary La memoria infinita, which won a Goya Award and was nominated for the Oscar Awards. In this feature film, he participated in the interpretation of ¿A dónde van? by Silvio Rodríguez, as well as a version of his popular song La danza de las libélulas (The Dance of the Dragonflies). His collaborations include a reinterpretation of his song El viejo comunista with Cuban Silvio Rodríguez; the album Abrazo de Hermanos, with Pedro Aznar; a series of recordings with Mon Laferte; the tour with Calle 13; as well as his collaborations with Los Bunkers and the Spanish El Kanka y Martirio, among others. He is currently working on his new album, which was recorded in Estudios Ojalá (Havana, Cuba) and will feature the participation of outstanding Cuban musicians. Outside his country he has toured Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, United States, Spain, France, Belgium, Sweden, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, China, Switzerland, Costa Rica and Venezuela.
