Seña y Verbo
This is a professional theater company founded in 1993. It consists of Deaf and hearing actors, presenting both children and adult plays throughout the year. Mexican Sign Language (LSM by its acronym in Spanish) is combined onstage with spoken Spanish to create original plays, as well as a range of courses, videos, consultations, and bilingual awareness workshops for both deaf and hearing people. In over 20 years of continuous work, it has produced 26 original plays, 17 international tours and more than 4500 performances. Professionals from different arts have collaborated with the company on many occasions: Perla Szuchmacher, Eugenio Toussaint, Enrique Singer, David Olguín, among others. In 2017, it became the first professional theater company, in Mexico and Ibero-America, directed by a Deaf person: Eduardo Domínguez.
