Raquel Araujo

She is currently in charge of La Rendija Theater, a company she led along with Oscar Urrutia Lazo. She was Information and Outreach Coordinator for CITRU INBA from 1997 to 2001. In 2001, she created and directed Espacio Escena 40° in Yucatán, invited by the Institute of Culture of Yucatán to create the Direction of Performing Arts. She has been part of the National System of Art Creators for the National Fund for Culture and Arts. Her work has been recognized with the Citizen Culture Award of the City of Merida 2015, the Terry Award for Best Staging 2016, the Xavier Villaurrutia Medal 2018, the Villanueva Prize of Theatrical Criticism 2019, the Silver Eggplant of the International Classic Theatre Festival of Almagro in 2019, among others. Organizing biannually the La Rendija Theater Festival, Iberoamérica en Escena.
