He was born and raised in Ulan-Ude, a Siberian city located between Lake Baikal and the border with Mongolia. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and at the International Piano Academy Lake Como. He won First Prize and Gold Medal of the International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in 2015, an award that placed him in the spotlight. In 2016, he toured Germany with the Russian National Orchestra led by Vladimir Spivakov and was a huge sensation. He performed with the Bamberg Symphony under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach. He did an artistic residency with the SWR Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart. In January 2017, he debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York, where the audience crowned him with four encores. His debut in Munich, at the Philharmonic Hall of the Gasteig Cultural Centre, resulted in an immediat offer for two new concerts. In France, his performances at the Philharmonie in Paris and at the festivals of La Roque-d'Anthéron and Beauvais, resulted in new opportunities such as a recital in the auditorium of the Louis Vuitton Foundation and an Asia tour with the French Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Mikko Franck.
