She is originally from Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca. La Morena, as they affectionately call her, reaffirms: "I am not 'color'. I am black and Afro-Mexican.” She began in music as a child and later became professional in singing and production, she has conquered stages in Europe and Latin America for her interpretive quality and in each project she highlights Afro-Mexican culture.

In 2011 he closed the most important world music market internationally, the Off-Womex Festival in Copenhagen, DenmarkIn 2019, he played the traditional music of Oaxaca at the Lille3000 Festival, in France, accompanied by the Lille-Fives Philharmonic Band.

In 2020 she was the official image of the AfroCensoMx for which she recorded the song Pero por supuesto que sí,  in the company of Carlos Colorado's International Sonora Santanera. An important event, since for the first time, in 300 years, Afro-descendants were counted as a living culture.

In 2021, she recorded her own television program entitled Las joyas de Oaxaca, which is broadcast on the signal of Canal ONCE and Canal22 nationwide on open television. Here he portrays the life story of Oaxacan artists, cooks, musicians, painters, artisans and more who have made important contributions to the arts and national culture.

In March 2022, she offered a concert in Mexico City at the Esperanza Iris theater together with the Regional Women's Band "Mujeres del Viento Florido", where she had Regina Orozco and Vivir Quintana as special guests.

His fourth material Tropicalísima was co-produced with Eugenia León and had Tania Libertad as a guest.

"La Morena has worked and duetted with artists such as: Lila Downs, La Santa Cecilia, Astrid Hadad, Armando Manzanero, Alex Lora, Eugenia León, Regina Orozco, Susana Zabaleta, Aida Cuevas, Tania Libertad, Filippa Giordano and Iraida Noriega.
