Dives
Can be called without false modesty one of Vienna's most successful indie pop bands. Since their formation at the Pink Noise Girls Rock Camp 2016, the trio consisting of Dora de Goederen (drums), Viktoria Kirner (vocals, bass) and Tamara Leichtfried (vocals, guitar) has played over 180 concerts in more than 15 countries (Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, England, Macedonia, Serbia, Italy, among others), toured with bands like L.A. Witch and Courtney Barnett, headlined the Vienna Popfest and participated in major industry festivals such as Eurosonic, Reeperbahn Festival and Great Escape. In addition, the band opened for renowned international artists such as Franz Ferdinand, AnnenMayKantereit and Bilderbuch, while consolidating its underground fan base by playing at beloved venues such as 8mm Bar and Ostpol Dresden.
Dives has adopted a new pop look: their indie sound seems even catchier and is still characterized by polyphonic vocal harmonies, lyrically the band is more personal than usual and yet much of their refined lyrics can be read as a direct declaration of war against social discord.
With their second album, released in 2022, Wanna Take You There, the trio presents a collection of songs full of great pop moments. With ease, the group pulls the refreshing songs on this album out of their sleeves. All three have used much of the pandemic-related downtime to hone their sound. While their debut with Teenage Years Are Over was characterized by moments dominated by rough, unpolished garage guitar sounds, now, their music comes across as tidier, letting their charming nonchalance and haunting vocals shine through more compactly.
