
Chie Hanawa
Born in Ibaraki, Japan. She began studying tsugaru shamisen at the age of nine with Mr. Mitsuyoshi Sasaki, where she studied Hiromitsu Agatsuma, the famous tsugaru shamisen artist. In 2000, she attended the national women's A-level tsugaru shamisen competition for the first time. When she was 17 years old, she became the youngest winner at that time. She made her major debut on Nippon Columbia with the release of the album Tsuki No Usagi in 2004 while studying at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2014, his 10th anniversary album CoLoRful was released by King Records.
In addition to her solo activities, she formed the ensemble Hanamas with violinist Natsumi Okimasu and Fuga, an instrumental ensemble where she performs the music of female artists with a bamboo flute and Tstugaru-jamisen. Her performances range from the Imperial Palace to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. In addition, she has performed in America, Asia, Eastern Europe and Middle Eastern countries at the invitation of the Japan Foundation and with organizational support from Japanese embassies, consulates or companies. In recent years she has appeared in Xperia TV commercials and has been well received in the Japanese pop music field. As a young tsugaru shamisen artist, she continues to expand her field by attracting our attention.
