It is a monologue written, produced and performed by Cláudia Abreu about the life of English writer Virginia Woolf (1882-1941). Under the direction of Amir Haddad and co-direction of Malu Valle, Virginia premiered in July 2022 in São Paulo and has since been presented in 27 Brazilian cities, reaching more than 40,000 spectators.
Abreu plays Woolf, whose life was marked by personal tragedies and a thin line between lucidity and madness. The text is conceived as an intimate inventory of the author's life, employing Woolf's characteristic technique of alternating a series of thoughts that embody the real or fictional voices always present in her mind. Cláudia Abreu is known for her outstanding performances in theater, film and television. She has appeared in classics such as Twelfth Night by Shakespeare and Three Sisters by Chekhov. She met Woolf through the adaptation of Orlando directed by Bia Lessa.
