This monologue is one of the biggest hits of the first decade of the 21st century and has remained on stages around the world for almost twenty years. Based on the text of the same name by Italian writer Dario Fo, the production starring Julio Adrião, who unleashes all his energy on stage to embody each of the characters in the story: Indians, Spanish, horses, chickens, fish, and even Jesus and Magdalene.
Johan Padan escapes the Inquisition and arrives in the New World on one of Christopher Columbus' caravels. Our hero survives shipwrecks, cannibalism and slavery. Eventually, he learns the language of the natives, captivates them and saves himself by performing “miracles” with some technique and a good dose of luck. In his own way, he catechizes the natives and leads them in a battle of liberation against the Spanish invaders.

PRESS QUOTES
“Whoever wants to perform this crazy and exhausting monologue needs to be in excellent physical condition, given it is not easy to narrate in 70 minutes the adventures of Johan, who, in order to escape the Inquisition, climbs aboard one of Columbus' ships.”
Barbara Heliodora. O Globo
“Ladies and gentlemen, be amazed: this is the best show I have seen in Brazil since 1978, performed by the best Brazilian actor: Júlio Adriao. It is the story of a Columbus' sailor, his arrival in America and the liberation of the Indians, after almost being devoured by them.”
