In Mexico it is often said that the Isthmus of Tehuantepec is a region where women have authority and the muxes are well accepted by the community -even if they wear skirts and love other men-.
In the play “Another day of party” (Otro día de fiesta) we witness the loving and conflictive friendship between two people. Concha is a woman, mother of three young girls, who battles between her affections and addictions to make a way for herself and her daughters. Amanda is a muxe who defends her affections in the midst of the permissiveness derived from the social double standards of this Oaxacan region. Together they maintain a relationship marked by resentment, solidarity, incapacity and a lot of tenderness.
Adapted by Luis Enrique Gutiérrez Ortiz Monasterio from the play “End of a party” (Fin de fiesta) by Marco Pétriz.

PRESS QUOTES
“There is a good reason to travel to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and it is the opportunity to see the theater of Marco Antonio Pétriz, exceptional director and playwright, who has given the national stage around 20 endearing plays, in 27 years of career.”
Juan Hernández. El Universal.
"Years ago I went to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec to see the theater of Marco Pétriz and I was amazed by its complex simplicity, its apparent “heritage” (costumbrismo), indeed, but magical, a performing art where the social order acquires the fascination of understanding this thing we call the world in the theater. A woman in the excesses of alcohol is not the important thing, but what counts of the community."
Braulio Peralta. Milenio.
"I learned that it had been many years since Pétriz had been on stage as an actor and that with this production he was returning to the stage. What a comeback with Gabriela Martínez. They are capable of making some people laugh, making others burst into laughter, even a tear or two. The interpretative strength in this tragicomedy shows that in Oaxaca they also know how to do theater, and well.
Candelaria López. Oaxaca.Media.
"The superb performances of Gabriela Martínez and Antonio Torreslópez achieve an immediate connection with the audience. The performers transcend clichés and stereotypes to probe, from the core, the essential conflict faced by the characters."
