A French musician widely regarded as one of the world’s most outstanding and innovative percussionists. He has collaborated with Sting, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, Vicente Amigo, Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Kate Bush, Branford Marsalis, Pino Daniele, and Salif Keita, among many others. He plays percussion, drums, guitar, keyboards, and sings, with decades of intensive study across a wide range of musical styles from around the world. 

He has composed music for films, documentaries, and television commercials. In 2006, he was nominated as one of the top ten film composers at the Cannes Film Festival.
