Samuel Canales

Graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in set design from Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral and officially obtained his degree in 2015. In 2014, he completed the Puppetry Intensive programme at Humber College in Toronto, with Puppetmongers Theatre. In 2021, he took the Toledo Panorama course with Pamela Howard at World Stage Design (Calgary). He has participated in interdisciplinary productions at CENART.

He has collaborated as set designer, lighting designer, technical coordinator and crew member with La Trouppe, Ballet de Amalia Hernández, OCESA Teatro, Mejor Teatro, Escenarte Internacional, CEPRODAC, Seña y Verbo, COCOLAB and Compañía Nacional de Ópera. His work includes collaborations with professionals such as Todd Robins, Jim Millán, Julie Taymor, Louis Troisi, Alisster Johnson, and Paragon Props, among others. He served as technical coordinator and translator in various productions, including The Lion King, Les Misérables, Chicago, Aladdin, Anastasia, The Illusionists, Billy Elliot, Blue Man Group, and Jurassic World: The Exhibition. From 2009 to 2015, he toured across Mexico with La Trouppe and Mejor Teatro.
