She is a performer with a recognized career in the field of opera, noted for her warm vocal timbre. She was part of the prestigious Mexico Opera Studio (MOS), participating in its fourth generation and as a guest in the third, under the direction of Maestros Alejandro Miyaki and Rennier Piñero. During her time at MOS, she brought to life various roles, including Anna in The Seven Deadly Sins by Kurt Weill, Mercedes in Carmen by Georges Bizet, Rosette in Manon by Massenet, Flor 3 in La hija de Rappaccini composed by Daniel Catán, and Carmelita in Misa de seis by Jiménez Mabarak and Emilio Carballido. 

Additionally, Mayela was part of Taller de Ópera de Sinaloa (TAOS) in Culiacán, where she performed the role of Giannetta in Elixir of Love by Donizetti, under the direction of tenor José Manuel Chu. She has also taken on the roles of Stephano in Roméo et Juliette and Siebel in Faust, both operas by Gounod, conducted by Maestro Rogelio Riojas-Nolasco. 

Her vocal development has been guided by distinguished teachers such as Cassandra Zoé, Marcela Robles, Oziel Garza Ornelas, and Yvonne Garza. She has also refined her technique in masterclasses with renowned international masters including Dolora Zajick, Joan Dornemann, Teresa Rodríguez, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, María Katzarava, and Andrés Sarre, among others.
