Óscar Escalante
Tipo de artista: Musician
Originally from Durango, he is one of the few Mexican inventors of acoustic musical instruments known for their ergonomic and sonic qualities. His path began at a very young age, shaped by a childhood with artist parents: his mother’s painting, his father’s music and poetry, and the family’s art library. Creator of the electro-arcaico movement, Escalante builds his own instruments, which are distinguished by their originality and handcrafted quality.
Notable among these are the “tubófono”, the “organillo telescópico extensible”, the “octabajo”, and a bagpipe adapted with an arghoul, a traditional wind instrument from Egypt.
