Luis Martínez

Son of Maestro Luisito Martínez Contreras, a key figure in son montuno in Mexico, he has worked with groups such as Lobo y Melón, La Internacional Sonora Veracruz, Carlos Lico, and the Moscow Orchestra. He has composed more than thirty danzones dedicated to Veracruz and genres like bolero, danzón, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms.

He has accompanied artists such as Celio González, Daniel Santos, Eugenia León, Amparo Ochoa, and Yuri. He is the director of the children’s group BaNdula and the ensemble Puerto Candela. In 2011, he received a FONCA grant for the project Danzón-Tango. He has also participated in productions with La Sonora Santanera and Gilberto Santa Rosa.
