Singer trained in ethnomusicology at UNAM and in vocal studies with soprano Rosa María Diez. Member of the group BaNdula, with performances at Festival Cervantino, Bogotá, and Chicago.

She was a FONCA grant recipient in 2012 as a son montuno performer. With her project Violeta Ortega y Puerto Candela, she has participated in various national and international festivals, standing out on the Latin American traditional music scene.
