Javier Camarena

Originally from Xalapa, Camarena is admired for the beauty of his performances, with a repertoire of great virtuosity and difficulty. He has been praised by international specialized critics following his appearances at prestigious venues such as the Vienna State Opera, Munich National Theatre, Semper Opera in Germany, Zurich Opera House, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid, Royal Opera House in London, Paris Opera, and the Salzburg Festival. In the United States, he has performed at San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, and New York’s Metropolitan Opera (MET), among others. He has established himself as one of the most important figures in the current international opera scene and was recognized as Male Singer of the Year by the International Opera Awards 2021.

In the second half of the 2024–2025 season, he will perform for the first time at Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Italy, singing the role of Romeo in Charles Gounod’s opera Roméo et Juliette. He will also present a series of concerts and recitals on international stages, performing in Mexico, Spain, France, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, China, and Argentina.
