John McIlduff
Librettist, writer, stage director, producer, and filmmaker. His work spans opera, television, and film, as well as theatre, music videos, advertising, art installations, and even the occasional song lyric.
A graduate of L’École de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, winner of the Fringe First Award in Edinburgh and nominee for the Total Theatre Innovation Award, John is interested in exploring how artistic practice can intersect, blend, evolve, and become more democratic.
Recently, his work has combined traditional analogue performance with digital technologies to transform the way opera is presented and experienced, taking this art form out of traditional opera houses and into the streets, attracting new audiences. His work has been presented across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, as well as in streets, theatres, film festivals, concert halls, on television, in galleries, communities, and even on the sides of shipping containers.
