Coro del Teatro de Bellas Artes

Founded in 1938 as the Coro del Conservatorio, the Coro del Teatro de Bellas Artes has participated in all seasons of national and international opera, establishing itself as one of the most important choral groups in the country. It has also been known as the Coro del Departamento de Música and Coro de la Ópera, and has appeared at festivals such as the Festival Cervantino, Música y Danza de Monterrey, Ópera de Guadalajara, and the Festival del Centro Histórico.

Its direction has been led by figures such as Alfonso Aguilar, Jesús Durón, Luis Sandi, Jesús Macías (for twenty years), James Demster, Xavier González, Alfredo Domínguez, John Daly Goodwin, Luis Manuel Sánchez, among many others.

Throughout its eighty-seven-year history, it has shared the stage with great voices such as María Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Renata Scotto, Ramón Vargas, Anna Netrebko, and others, with a repertoire spanning opera, zarzuela, symphonic music, and oratorio.
