A musical trio from Xalapa, Veracruz, formed in 2016. Starting from son jarocho, their artistic proposal covers genres such as canto cardenche and jazz. The trio consists of Raymundo Pavón Lozano (voice and jarana), Alejandra Paniagua (harp and voice) and Diego Huerta Cerroblanco (guitarrón). With two albums, La Calandria (2019) and Antes de salir el Sol (2024), they have reflected their musical evolution: from a fresh style to a sonic journey that reinterprets tradition. La Calandria’s music has found resonance in Mexico, Spain and Colombia, carrying the essence of Veracruz music to diverse audiences around the world. They have collaborated with Natalia Lafourcade, Silvana Estrada and Son de Madera.
