Banda de Música del Estado de Guanajuato

Banda de Música del Estado de Guanajuato

With a history dating back to 1767, Banda de Música del Estado de Guanajuato is one of the oldest musical groups in Mexico and Latin America. Officially founded on November 22, 1855, it has been a fundamental part of the state’s cultural life for more than a century and a half.

Present at civic events, religious festivities, and popular celebrations, the band preserves century-old traditions such as the “Mattinata” on Viernes de Dolores and the annual Fiesta de la Apertura de la Presa de la Olla. Throughout its history, it has taken part in landmark events such as the inauguration of Teatro Juárez and Grito de Independencia in Dolores Hidalgo.

In 2022, it received the Presea Eugenio Trueba Olivares, awarded during FIC, and was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the State. Since 2021, the group has been under the direction of Maestro Adalberto Tovar.
