Veracruz-born singer, 23 years old, who began her musical career at the age of two as a dancer and vocalist for her parents’ son jarocho band, Son de Madera. She is recognised as the first Mexican to win the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, held in New Jersey. In that competition, she performed the bolero Cuando vuelva a tu lado by María Grever.
Born into a family of musicians connected to son jarocho, Lucía naturally developed an inclination for jazz, influenced by the music scene in Xalapa and other parts of the country. She studied at Universidad Veracruzana, where she graduated with honours. Her talent led her to join as a backing vocalist, vocal director, and zapateadora for singer Natalia Lafourcade, collaborating on Un canto por México – The Musical, Live at Carnegie Hall by Lafourcade, and her latest album De todas las flores.
