Juan Carlos Lomónaco

Mexican musician. He made his debut at twenty-three years old with Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México and since then has conducted over sixty orchestras in countries such as the United States, Canada, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Poland, Russia, and Macedonia. His experience includes working with Orquesta y Coros Nacionales de España, ADDA Sinfónica, Sinfónica de Murcia, Sinfónica de Córdoba, Orchestra della Toscana, Ópera y Ballet de Bellas Artes de México, Sinfónica de Xalapa, Filarmónica de la UNAM, and Polish Chamber Orchestra, among others.

He has been principal conductor of various orchestras such as Sinfónica de Yucatán from 2009 to 2023, as well as Sinfónica Carlos Chávez of Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and Conservatorio Nacional de Música. He is also founder and director of the Mexico-Philadelphia Ensemble and the Ensamble Iberoamericano.

He trained at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia with Otto-Werner Mueller and complemented his studies at The Monteux School with Charles Brush and at the University of Montreal. His repertoire is broad and versatile, ranging from Baroque to contemporary music, including opera and ballet. He has participated in the festivals of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Treviso, Vila Nova de Gaia, and FIC. He has collaborated with renowned soloists such as Alexei Volodin, Leticia Moreno, and Pacho Flores. He has over twenty recordings and has received the Presser Music Award as well as five consecutive grants from FONCA. In 2010, he was named one of the three hundred most influential leaders in Mexico by Líderes Mexicanos magazine.
