Caroline Planté

Caroline Planté

She began her training at the age of seven alongside her father, Marcel “El Rubio” Planté, a pioneer of flamenco in Quebec. Caroline, born in Spain, has a career spanning over three decades and is recognised for her virtuosity, originality and artistic vision. She spent more than twenty years immersed in traditional flamenco, particularly in Spain, where she developed a personal style that sits outside of purist conventions. She was a pioneering woman in a field historically dominated by men.

In collaboration with choreographer Mariano Cruceta, she created eight choreographic works between 2004 and 2013. Her first album, 8 Reflexiones (2010), was the first flamenco recording to be composed and performed by a female guitarist. After a decade in Spain, she returned to Montreal in 2013, where she broadened her musical horizons through various award-winning projects and intercultural collaborations.
