Originally from Guanajuato, he began dancing at the age of eight. In 1989, he joined BAFUG as a dancer and, in 1997, took over its direction. During his tenure, he consolidated the foundation of the Children’s Group and has structured fifteen programmes that define its trajectory, leading BAFUG to perform on iconic national and international stages.
He holds a degree in arts education with a specialisation in folk dance. He has complemented his training through congresses and specialised courses in various dance disciplines, taught by renowned institutions such as Universidad de Guanajuato, Universidad de Colima, and Instituto Cabañas in Guadalajara. He has studied under teachers such as Rafael Zamarripa, Huemantzin Castillo López, Everardo Hernández, María Elena Cano, Raúl Cano, América Balbuena, Guadalupe Trejo, Martha Azuela Espinoza, and Nelly Ferro, among others. He has also led workshops for various artistic groups.
He was awarded a grant through the state programme Estímulos a la Creación y al Desarrollo Artístico of Instituto Estatal de la Cultura de Guanajuato for his project Día de las Flores.
He served as the dance representative on the Planning Committee of Programa de Estímulos a la Creación y Desarrollo Artístico en Guanajuato of Instituto Estatal de la Cultura, and as coordinator of the training sessions for the Identidad y Folklor project of Instituto Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes de Guanajuato. He is currently a member of CIOFF.
