Louise Orwin
Award-winning multidisciplinary artist working across performance, music and film. She creates research-based participatory projects that explore what it means to identify as a queer, femme woman in a fast-paced, media-saturated world that continues to privilege patriarchal and heteronormative narratives. Her work is cinematic, provocative, intimate, and often infused with a heavy dose of pop culture.
She draws inspiration from cultural trends both online and in the real world. Her recent works address themes such as social media, youth culture, and the future, and have toured across the UK and internationally.
Her recognitions include being named a British Council “Artist to Watch” in 2017, Edinburgh Showcase Artist in 2019, Barbican OpenLab artist in 2020, Choreodrome Artist at The Place in 2023, recipient of the Space Digital Commission in 2023, the Sit Up x List Award and the Summerhall Lustrum Award in 2024, as well as a nomination for the Arts Council England Digital Innovation Award in 2025.
