He has worked with ensembles such as The Cleveland Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. His live performances receive the highest praise and are acclaimed by international media for their deep understanding of the repertoire.
Jonathan’s open approach to music-making is reflected in his broad repertoire. A bold advocate of contemporary and new music, with over 70 world premieres to his credit, Jonathan is equally adept in classical and romantic repertoire. He recently released recordings of Franz Schmidt’s complete symphonies with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on the Accentus Music label, which have received enthusiastic reviews worldwide.
In recent years, he has conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Academy of Music, London Mozart Players, City of London Sinfonia, London Sinfonietta, BCMG, Dublin’s Crash Ensemble; as well as the Cleveland Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, George Enescu Philharmonic, Sinfonietta Riga, Lithuanian National Philharmonic Orchestra, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Modern, and New European Ensemble abroad, among others. He has also conducted over 45 operas, ranging from Mozart, Wagner, and Debussy to Knussen, and maintains a relationship with the London Sinfonietta spanning more than a decade.
