Melva Olivas

She is currently Assistant Director at Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM, where she also premiered her most recent creation, El último día del verano (2024). Her work has been recognised by multiple national and international institutions. She has been a recipient on several occasions of support from Sistema de Apoyos a la Creación y Proyectos Culturales (formerly FONCA), through programmes such as Jóvenes Creadores, Creadores Escénicos, and Apoyos Especiales. Among her most noteworthy pieces are Ecos (CEPRODAC, 2022), Ópalo and Huma (Compañía Nacional de Danza), and Paisaje, a work selected for Encuentro Nacional de las Artes Escénicas (2020). Her creations have been presented at venues such as Palacio de Bellas Artes and Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris, as well as festivals including Festival Internacional Cervantino, Un Desierto para la Danza, and Festival Internacional de Videodanza. In 2021, she was a finalist for the Premio Nacional de Danza Guillermo Arriaga with the piece Anónima, which was performed in the Sala Principal at Palacio de Bellas Artes.
