The story of Giselle tells of a young peasant girl who falls in love with Albert, a man of a different social class. She lives deeply in the illusion of love until she is confronted with his betrayal. Hilarion, her fellow villager, suffers from unrequited love as he realises Giselle’s heart belongs to another, and does everything he can to expose the deception.
In this version, the dramatic principles of the classic work remain—love, betrayal, death, and vengeance—but the story takes a contemporary, realistic turn when we learn that Giselle has gone missing. Transformed into a Wili, somewhere between fantasy and memory, the dances of the Wilis become an embodiment of strength and a quest for justice.
