Irina Marcano

A lover of the performing arts and passionate about creative processes, Irina is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer who assumes the artistic direction of Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM, supported by her remarkable career in the dance world. Her career includes being a member of Ballet Contemporáneo de Caracas, soloist with Ballet Teresa Carreño, and principal dancer of Ballet Nacional de Ecuador. In Mexico, she was a dancer and choreographer with Compañía Nacional de Danza (CND), where she gained recognition by winning the internal choreography competition with the works Planimetría del movimiento and TRINUM. She also created Blancanieves, nominated for the Lunas del Auditorio Nacional prize, and other pieces such as Miliano, L.E.O. el espacio onírico, Misty, Espacio efímero, and Refugio, all presented at important venues and festivals both nationally and internationally. Additionally, for Ballet Nacional de El Salvador, she developed Tempus and Carmina Burana. Since February 2024, she has led TCUNAM with her artistic vision.
