Irina Marcano
Originally from Venezuela, Irina is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer who now leads the Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM, backed by a distinguished career in the world of dance. She was a member of the Ballet Contemporáneo de Caracas, a soloist with the Ballet Teresa Carreño, and Principal Dancer of the Ballet Nacional de Ecuador. In Mexico, she was a dancer and choreographer with the Compañía Nacional de Danza (CND), where she earned recognition by winning the internal choreography competition with the works Planimetría del movimiento and TRINUM. She also created Blancanieves, nominated for the Lunas del Auditorio Nacional, as well as works including Miliano, L.E.O. el espacio onírico, Misty, Espacio efímero, and Refugio, all presented at leading venues and festivals both in Mexico and abroad. For the Ballet Nacional de El Salvador, she created Tempus and Carmina Burana. Since February 2024, she has directed TCUNAM with her artistic vision.
