Following a distinguished dance career —with collaborations including Ballet Preljocaj (France), Swan Lake on Broadway (New York), and companies such as DV8, Michael Clark, and Company Wayne McGregor in London, as well as Alias (Switzerland) and Nye Carte Blanche (Norway)— Fred Gehrig earned a master’s degree in performance design and Practice from Central Saint Martins, London. Since then, he has focused his work on collaborations with renowned visual artists such as Martin Creed, Daria Martin, Anne Katrine Dolven, Pablo Bronstein, Carlos Motta, and Franz Erhard Walter. In film, he is known for his appearance in World War Z (produced by Brad Pitt) and for coaching Juliette Binoche in the film Polina, danser sa vie.

He has created and performed across every country in Western Europe and was a founding member of Dancers without Frontiers (ToG Tänzer ohne Grenzen e.V.), with whom he produced three consecutive screendance projects in the Cape Verde Islands between 2009 and 2011.
