Of Mexican descent, she is originally from Austin, Texas, in the United States. She discovered son jarocho in 2010 and has since been an avid student of the tradition, participating in fandangos in the Veracruz region and learning directly from the Vega family, the Baxin family, and Colectivo Altepee. She plays guitarra grande, also known as “leona,” an instrument that serves as the bass and is rarely played by women, but which she masters with both strength and charm.
