A graduate in percussion from Facultad de Música at Universidad Veracruzana, where he is also a professor. He has taught at Centro de Educación Musical Infantil (C.I.M.I) of the same university for the past thirty years. He is the director of Ensamble de Percusiones de Xalapa, an independent group with thirty-six years of continuous trajectory. A composer of works for percussion, he specialises in a wide range of styles, including contemporary, orchestral and ethnic percussion —both West African and Afro-Cuban rhythms— as well as traditional and concert marimba, and drum kit. As a soloist, he performs in concerts and gives lectures at various national and international festivals.
