Formed in 1990, this ensemble is now internationally recognised as one of the finest exponents of son jarocho, traditional musical genre from southern Mexico.  

Their musical and stage proposal, far from detaching from its roots, develops and elevates the tradition through the creativity and life experiences of each member. On stage, Son de Madera is accompanied by string instruments such as the guitarra de son, jaranas, mandolin, and double bass, as well as percussion instruments like the pandero and wooden tarimas.

They were nominated in the categories of Best Latin Album, Best Latin Song, and Best Cover at the 9th edition of the Independent Music Awards. In 2015, they received the award for Best Traditional Music Performance at Lunas del Auditorio.
