Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Guanajuato (OSUG), under the baton of Maestro Juan Carlos Lomónaco, presents a musical evening full of deep lyricism and energy with one of the pillars of the Romantic repertoire: Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23, by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
On this occasion, the acclaimed Russian pianist Alexei Volodin returns to Guanajuato to take on the soloist role in a work that demands both technical skill and emotional intensity. With an established career on the world’s most prestigious stages, and a repertoire ranging from classics like Beethoven and Brahms to the passionate sound worlds of Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Scriabin, he joins the OSUG in one of the city’s most emblematic venues, Teatro Juárez, to deliver an experience promised to be unforgettable.
Tchaikovsky’s Concerto No. 1 is a challenge both for the soloist and the orchestra: from its powerful opening chords to the lyrical passages of the second movement, traversing drama and beauty while requiring a constant and profound dialogue between piano and orchestra.
