Óscar Escalante con Francisco Hidalgo y Alejandro Motta

Visión electroneumática

* Programme subject to change

This concert offers a unique musical experience. It is an improvisation-based process in which all sound material will be generated in situ by the performers. The proposal seeks to present music in its purest form: radical, free, and virtuosic. In this context, improvisation does not imply a lack of form or structure, but rather an open, fluid, and unrepeatable experience.

The trio is made up of Óscar Escalante, joined by two musicians of notable trajectory: Paco Hidalgo on drums and Alejandro Motta on double bass and “bajo plano extendido”. The interaction between the performers gives rise to an improvisation conceived as a spontaneous act of composition and creative freedom, where every sonic gesture is a decision made in real time.

Press quotes

“I believe in multidimensional existence, and, through my imagination, I play with the sound that matter, space, and time transmit. In the acoustic tunnel of extensible telescopic will, I restlessly explore the search for signs that might expand and bring clarity to my perspectives and intuitions about existence.”

Óscar Escalante

“He currently works with sound experimentation by building or modifying instruments, such as a saxophone with a pedal that activates a flap to produce effects.”

Notimex

“Óscar Escalante is a visual artist, instrument maker, and charango player born in the city of Durango, Mexico. Like a mystical wanderer, Óscar is in touch with a powerful creative force that takes many forms through visual art, installations, and inventive new instruments.”
