Ensamble de Percusiones de Xalapa

With thirty-six years of experience, the ensemble, under the direction of Carlos René Pérez Casas, has become an international benchmark in percussion music. Its forward-thinking approach promotes a holistic vision of the contemporary percussionist, spanning orchestral and concert music, drum set performance, and rhythmic traditions from various regions, including Mexico, Cuba, and countries across Africa and Europe. 

Through its research efforts, the ensemble consistently organises courses and workshops led by renowned performers and composers, while developing an artistic practice that merges traditional and contemporary elements. Its workshops and lectures have been offered at universities and music schools in Durango and Matamoros in Mexico, as well as in cities in Belize and France. 

Throughout its career, the ensemble has featured the participation of renowned soloists and dancers, including Fernando Morales Matus, M’Bemba Bangoura and Manley López.
