Ensamble Tradicional Comunitario de Son Huasteco “Cántaros de sol”
Founded in December 2014, Semillero Ensamble Tradicional Comunitario de Son Huasteco “Cántaros de Sol” became the pioneering community music ensemble in Veracruz, established by Mexico’s Secretaría de Cultura through its Sistema Nacional de Fomento Musical. Thanks to the work of its teachers and members, the group has revitalised traditional music, indigenous attire, and the native language, strengthening the identity of new generations and transforming how the community lives and revives its tradition.
Over its more than ten years of activity, “Cántaros de Sol” has trained nearly 400 children and young people between the ages of 7 and 17 in violin, jarana huasteca, quinta huapanguera, as well as a comprehensive Trío Huasteco formation. As part of the Semillero programme, its members have had the opportunity to take part in music training camps, workshops, and artistic tours with ensembles from other regions of the country.
