Letter to Milos is the title of both the performance and the album by the Spanish pianist, dedicated to his son in his first year of life. In this work, Mezquida blends his love for tonality with the freedom of free jazz, exploring a wide range of styles. Highlights include Nacimiento and Infinito, the groove of Charrada de la vida and Sonajero, the progressive pop of El cielo en tus brazos, the blues of Percebes y zamburiñas, and the minimalist punk of Pauta completa.
The album also pays tribute to Iberian music with Pandero Suite and fuses Cuban son with Brazilian samba in Passarinho. Additionally, Letter to Milos and Milos Smiles reflect his connection to the Romantic genre, offering a subtle tribute to German composer Johannes Brahms, one of the great figures of Romanticism.
