The Colombian singer-songwriter presents a tribute to the Veracruzana singer Toña la Negra with songs by Agustín Lara. The project is born from her childhood memories in Quindío, Colombia’s coffee-growing region, where she grew up listening to boleros, tangos, and bambucos at her grandfather’s fonda. The bambuco, a traditional Andean Colombian rhythm, is part of the soundscape that shaped her upbringing. Upon discovering that many of the songs that accompanied her were by Agustín Lara, and that the voice of the Veracruzana singer had moved her since childhood, she decided to create a concert that united those influences with her admiration for Mexico.
In addition to Lara’s repertoire, the program includes traditional Colombian music and some of her own compositions.
Victoria will be accompanied by guitarist Carlos Mario Muñoz, percussionist Rafa Lozina, and Mexican musician Alonso Borja.
